All the gimmicks of training are getting silly; Balls, discs, springs and contraptions. But we all know that pulling and grip strength are two things that will never leave. They may be out of style, but they always work.
Our advice to you; buck the trends and save face. The fat bar trap bar isn't a gimmick; it's a great tool to make you stronger. Just put the thing on the floor and pick it up. It really is pretty simple. The trap bar is great as it allows you to work your deadlift and squat with little back strain and tremendous hip development. Add in a 2" handle, and you've got one of the best lifts ever.
