Events based on a true story, names and places have been changed to protect the innocent.
In a gym far, far away a group of lifters gathered for max effort bench press training. It turns out they were all too beat up to attempt heavy singles so they decided to do high rep flat dumbbell presses on the stability ball.
This was a great idea, at first.
The session began just as many others. Some muppet decides to begin with 20 pound dumbbells for a zillion reps and 200 sets. 20 minutes later the rest join and and start working up in weight with the goal being 125's for as many reps as they could get.
Things proceed as normal, music is jammin' and aggression is on the rise
The goal weight is reached and the first five guys go...
18 reps, 15 reps, 12 reps, 19 reps and 15 reps. Not a bad day. Everyone is breaking records but there is one more to go...
But, where did he go?
Turns out he is outside getting himself in his peak state by beating himself on the head. Please remember that they were doing dumbbell presses, not squats.
Now this guy enters the gym with fire in his eyes.
He chalks up and heads toward the stability ball in a focused rage. Seconds later he has the 125's on his lap and screams one last time.
Now is his time! He is ready for stability ball presses
He grips the bells as tight as he can, flexes his upper back and begin to roll down the ball into his pressing position. Then it happens....
POP!
To the ground his falls going from a peak state to a state of total confusion. Seems the ball rolled over a nail. To save face he tries to act like it is not funny, meanwhile the rest of the gym is in tears laughing at this great display of physical perfection.
The moral of the story is to make sure there are no nails on the floor when you are using a stability ball.
This anti burst stability ball is designed for heavy weight training. We have used it for over 175 lb dumbbell presses!
The Sissel ABS Pro Swiss Ball has a safe, non-slip surface and is manufactured with a special material called crylon, which makes the ball deflate if it's accidentally punctured.
